🚨 Emergency & Specialist Care 🚨

Urgent care when your pet needs it most

At Healthy Paws Mobile Vets, we strive to provide the highest level of care in the comfort of your home. However, some medical situations require urgent, hospital-based emergency treatment.

If your pet is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, such as:

  • Severe trauma - such as being hit by a car, falling from a height, or a serious bite wound

  • Difficulty breathing - such as excessive panting, gasping for air, or choking

  • Collapse or loss of consciousness - such as sudden fainting, extreme weakness, or unresponsiveness

  • Seizures that do not stop - or multiple seizures in a short period

  • Uncontrolled bleeding - from wounds, the nose, mouth, or rectum

  • Suspected toxin ingestion - including rat bait, chocolate, human medications, or toxic plants

  • Severe pain or distress - signs include whining, restlessness, trembling, or reluctance to move

We strongly recommend seeking immediate veterinary care at a 24/7 emergency hospital. If you are unsure whether your pet requires emergency treatment, please contact us or your closest emergency hospital for guidance on the best next steps.

🚨 FIND AN EMERGENCY VET 🚨

Some cases require specialist diagnostics, advanced surgical procedures, or ongoing critical care beyond what can be provided in a mobile setting. When this happens, we work closely with trusted veterinary specialists in the Greater Brisbane area to ensure your pet receives the highest level of care.

We can provide referrals for:

  • Advanced diagnostics (e.g., CT scans, MRIs, specialist ultrasounds)

  • Surgical procedures requiring specialist expertise

  • Ongoing critical care for complex or chronic conditions

  • Specialist treatment in areas such as cardiology, neurology, oncology, and orthopaedics

We also offer GP clinic referrals in cases where further diagnostics, surgery, or ongoing care may be best managed by a general practice veterinary team. These referrals are discussed during your consultation to ensure your pet receives care that’s tailored, appropriate, and in their best interest.

Our team is here to support you throughout the referral process, working closely with specialists to ensure continuity of care. If your pet requires specialist attention, we will discuss the best options and help you take the next steps to get them the care they need.
